Personnel development is a set of interrelated activities aimed at developing a personnel selection strategy, planning the need for employees, managing career growth and organizing their training and adaptation process. In addition, such actions include the formation of work etiquette and organizational culture.

Since the development of personnel is a systematic process, it should take place continuously and be oriented towards the formation of skills among employees in accordance with the needs of a particular enterprise, as well as the study and development of educational and productive personnel among employees.

Work on the development of personnel includes several components, among which are professional training, advanced training of employees, rotation, and career planning.

An important component of staff development, of course, is its training. These are actions that are developed within the framework of a specific concept of employee training and are focused on their continuous improvement. Such measures have a positive impact on professional development and productivity at all levels, satisfy the individual training needs of staff.

With regard to professional development, it is the training of personnel to fulfill new responsibilities, solve new problems and move to higher positions.

What are the goals of staff development? Firstly, with its help it is easy to increase the labor potential of workers who, as a result, can solve not only personal tasks, but also contribute to the development of the entire organization. Secondly, the level of labor efficiency is increasing, and leading personnel are being trained. Thirdly, personnel development educates young employees with extraordinary abilities, helps them adapt to new technologies, and develops their social qualities.

Each manager, thinking about the development of his company’s personnel, should remember that such a set of measures taken will help maintain efficiency, adapt employees to new changing conditions, prepare personnel for more complex tasks, and organize psychological assistance to employees.

The principles of development include:

- the integrity of development measures, attention to the various types and forms of personnel development;

- forecast-based development, ahead of the nature of employee training;

- the flexibility of forms of development, the use of different forms at different stages;

- stimulating the development of human resources at the professional and social levels;

- organization of staff development, taking into account all the capabilities of the enterprise, the existing economic conditions.

Why is professional development of staff necessary? The answer to this question is obvious. High competition and globalization of the economy, the development of information technology, the need to solve important issues regarding the management of employee productivity, the need for the participation of all managers in improving the enterprise, and many other factors affect the importance of staff development in modern conditions. That is why managers who want to succeed today should pay great attention to staff development.
