When we learn about who works in the circus, it turns out that this is not so much an entertainment establishment as an extensive economic complex. For example, in the world famous Cirque du Soleil, a troupe of four thousand people works, which allows the institution to give performances in several cities of the world at the same time.

In addition to people directly entering the arena, this circus has its own seamstresses, who, for example, prepared special costumes for gymnasts for the Mystery show, sewn on each of about 2,000 sequins. For a year, circus craftswomen use about twenty kilometers of various fabrics to dress all the artists. A circus shoe workshop sews about 5,000 pairs of shoes annually.

Who works at the Cirque du Soleil yet? Of course, there are our own designers, composers, arrangers, artists, musicians. To create films and shows, there are directors, cameramen. And not a single idea is complete without workers of a wide profile, movers, electricians, drivers and cleaners. Since professionals from forty countries work in the circus, to maintain the level of their qualifications, the institution hired a whole staff of trainers, theater teachers, doctors and masseurs of various specializations.

As a company with an income of more than half a billion dollars, Cirque du Soleil should have an appropriate staff of specialists in the financial sector. Accountants, financiers, tax specialists from different countries, lawyers - these are the people who work in a circus of this magnitude.

In Russia, specialists of such a plan are trained, in particular, at the Rumyantsev School of Circus and Pop Art (clown Pencil). He was completed by such stars of show business as Ilya Oleinikov, Gennady Khazanov, Efim Shifrin, Sergey Minaev, Alexander Peskov, Zhanna Bichevskaya, well-known circus artist Oleg Popov and others. Here they study specialized disciplines (acrobatics, clowning, dancing on wire, horse shows, juggling, etc.), the history of theater, circus, actor’s skill, original and speech genres.

In addition to people, animals often enter the arena, which, of course, are also circus performers. At the Moscow Nikulin Circus, the performance shows numbers with dogs, horses, monkeys, Bengal and Ussuri tigers. Of course, each animal has a trainer, a veterinarian, as well as someone who arranges their place of residence and feeds. If the troupe has large animals like sea lions (weigh up to one and a half tons, eat up to one hundred and thirty kilograms of fish per day), then the serving staff can be more than extensive.

New business conditions require the emergence of new specialties. Who works in the circus today, but who was not in it, for example, fifteen to twenty years ago? Over the past decade, public relations specialists, promoters, marketers, studying the tastes of viewers have appeared in domestic institutions. In addition, with the development of computer technology in circus states around the world, system administrators, web designers and programmers have firmly established themselves.
