We can say that these are the "pioneers" of this direction.

But is everything as good as it seems? And is business computer science so demanded - a specialty that is still not really known to any of the students?

The Faculty of Business Informatics, as has been said many times, is a rather new area. Of course, many students (and parents) want to know what they learn during such training. This is where the first problems that the student encounters begin.

The first thing that can shock is the items needed for admission. As a rule, business informatics, a specialty new and unexplored, requires the guys to pass the Russian language, mathematics and … social science. A tempting offer, especially for those who were going to act as an ordinary economist. Most applicants change their minds toward innovation. But over time, questions begin: "Business informatics, who should work with such an education?" First, let's see what the specialists who are trained in this area are studying.

As soon as a student comes to the very first lectures on business informatics, he usually gets into an awkward position. The thing is that this area is interpreted more as an economic entity. In fact, everything is somewhat different.

From the first lectures, the children are waiting in the first year for many purely mathematical disciplines. Here, mathematical analysis, and discrete mathematics, and computer science, and the history of computer technology. A person who is not ready for the fact that business informatics is an unknown profession may simply be surprised at how much mathematics comes from here. But this does not end there.

Further, in the same first year, students begin to teach a lot of information subjects, as well as learn programming. This also includes the fact that foreign languages ​​(especially English) will begin to be taught under the guise of "business spoken". In fact, students will be forced to translate texts all the time, retell them and conduct conversations with the teacher on the topic: "What I want to work with." Business informatics takes away quite a lot of time from students in terms of the number of lectures given per day, which practically leaves no time for rest. Therefore, during class, the student must work independently (this happens in most cases) in order to understand what is “happening” around him.

A separate place is reserved for computer science and programming. Here, the entire history of the development of these disciplines is studied, after which various databases appear, tasks on compiling and using programs, and so on. But, unfortunately, programming is not taught at the proper level. A good study of this area requires at least 4 years of full work. Business informatics is a direction that heaps students with different subjects. And as for the economics and humanities that promised so? Let's see what else the guys will be forced to study.

A bit of humanities

Having entered the specialty that we are currently working on, the student firmly believes that he will receive a prestigious elite education, and economic sciences will be studied. From the first year, some disappointment awaits those who have chosen the faculty of Business Informatics. What to work with, if they teach only mathematical disciplines, is a question of questions. A little later, training begins to "slide" towards the economy.

Here appears macro- and microeconomics, financial mathematics, life safety, psychology, economic theory, 1C-enterprise and so on. Mathematics, after studying differential directions and the general theory of systems with probability theory, is slowly fading into the background. Students will also be given the opportunity to study management and marketing. Gradually, business informatics begins to push aside informatics. By about the 3rd course, she will completely leave the exhausted students.

So, without really studying mathematics and information technology, the guys jump to the economy. This is such an incomprehensible business informatics specialty. "What will you work after graduation?" - a teacher in any economic specialty can ask a question to freshmen and sophomores. And students just shrug. Indeed, what to do after graduation?

I would be a mathematician, but …

Naturally, a mathematician! How did this not immediately occur to him. Unlearn 5 years in a new direction, which, according to the administration, prepares the elite, then to work in school as a mathematics teacher? Well, an option. True, too expensive. Education per year in this area varies from 100 to 200 thousand rubles, depending on the geographical location. So if you want to work as a math teacher, go for something more "narrow".

In addition, the proper level of mathematical knowledge is not supported here. Full mathematics, namely mathematical analysis and differential equations are taught only one year. The remaining mathematical disciplines pass through the minds of students for one semester, which does not provide the necessary knowledge. Although you can hear a lot of feedback and talk that business informatics is a popular and elite specialty. This opinion is usually expressed by parents and those who have not yet studied in this area.

A programmer would …

Well, math faded into the background. What else is being taught? Informatics and programming! Right! If you don’t know who to work with, you can go into the field of IT-technologies, as rectors promise many students. As soon as students get this idea, their dreams immediately fall apart - just two years of programming and one year of computer science. Oh, how much knowledge they will give!

In order to become a full-fledged programmer, it is necessary to study the subject for at least 4 years, and daily and constantly. The same can be said about computer science. Nevertheless, universities "advertise" business informatics as a specialty, after which graduates will be able to work where they wish. In practice, the situation is different. Promises and ideas about the elitism of this specialty are shattered. Those who have already studied for some time often call business informatics "nonspecialty." But why? Indeed, since mathematics and programming have not “grown together,” there is also an economy!

"Under-economist"

And yet, what will the future work be? Business informatics includes quite a few economic disciplines after studying mathematics. But here things are even worse. The thing is that the economy also needs to be "closely" involved in order to achieve a good result. And in this area they teach "just a little bit." A piece is torn from mathematics, another part is from programming, the rest is from economics.

And chaos reigns in my head. A little knowledge on personnel management, psychology, mathematics, programming, economics, marketing and so on … What happens? It turns out that not a single subject is fully taught. There are already many narrower specialists on the labor market who do not have the superficial knowledge that they give on business informatics. It turns out that the promised salaries of 35,000 rubles are just a fairy tale for those who don’t know. Naturally, there is a chance that you will work, as you promise, in the implementation of IT technologies in business, but this can only be done "by acquaintance" and "not by profession." What remains for business informatics? Who to work after graduation?

Hard life

As already mentioned, the graduate expects huge competition in the labor market, and not the golden mountains that promise so. A person who has graduated from the Faculty of Business Informatics will actually have a hard time. But what to do?

All that remains is the popular areas of work. For example, a manager or sales assistant. This is where students and graduates of business informatics usually work. They will not be able to pretend to "elite" places, since the big name of the direction implies that the guys take "a little bit from everywhere". Not the best option. Students can also work as operators in call centers and various ordinary office workers. So, in the end, the guys will be very disappointed, especially if they study on a fee basis.

There is a replacement

What to do for those who want to work in their specialty and miss a little bit from everywhere? There is such a direction as information management. This, in essence, is the same business informatics, only it sounds less "prestigious", and economic disciplines are studied there more and more persistently.

So, having entered information management, a student becomes a full-fledged economist who is able to compete in the labor market. Yes, the likelihood that he will start earning 50 thousand a month and not do anything at the same time is practically reduced to zero. Nevertheless, a graduate will be guaranteed to receive his 25,000 rubles for work in his specialty. Those who have studied business informatics sometimes even practice as cashiers, sales managers and consultants. It turns out that business informatics is a rather misleading specialty, altered from another to “pull money” from students and their parents. However, there are a lot of such examples.
