A modern CNC machine is considered a complex electromechanical device. For its proper operation, the service of qualified specialists is required. As a rule, the work of such machines is monitored by the installer and operator of the CNC machines.

The work of the installer is more complicated and responsible. He must carry out setup and readjustment of the machine. The operator of the CNC machine controls the work process and can only perform easy setup.

Setup Actions

  1. According to the map, a cutting tool is selected. Then its integrity and correctness of sharpening are checked.

  2. The specified coordinate dimensions are selected on the setup map.

  3. Set the cutting tool in the revolver.

  4. The chuck provided for by the setup card is installed, and the workpiece mounting reliability is checked.

  5. The switch is set to "From the machine".

  6. Next, the verification of the working system at idle begins.

  7. After checking the tape drive, punched tape is introduced. Thus, the installer is convinced of the correctness of the laid down program for the console and the machine, as well as the working light-signaling system.

  8. Next, you need to move the caliper to the zero position using the “Zero shift” switches.

  9. The specialist secures the workpiece blank in the cartridge.

  10. He sets the switch to the "According to the program."

  11. Starts to process the first workpiece.

  12. The manufactured part is measured, corrections are made for corrector-switches.

  13. The workpiece is processed in the "According to the program" mode again.

  14. Measurements of the finished part.

And before the operator of the CNC machine tools starts working, the mode switch on the device’s remote control is set to “Automatic”. This completes the process of setting up the machine.

Cnc operator

The routine maintenance of this specialist includes changing the oils, cleaning the working area, lubricating the cartridge, checking the hydraulics and pneumatics of the machine, as well as the accuracy of the equipment.

Before starting work, the operator on CNC machines must:

  1. Carry out a machine operability check using a special test program embedded in the equipment. Ensure lubricant supply, hydraulic oil, and limit stops.

  2. The operator of the CNC machines checks the reliability of fastening devices and tools, whether the workpiece corresponds to this process. It measures deviations from the accuracy of zero adjustment on the machine, the difference in deviations for each given coordinate and the beating of the tool in the machine spindle itself.

  3. Then the machine is turned on. It is necessary to install and fix the workpiece, enter the program, refill the magnetic tape and punched tape into the reader, press the "Start" button.

  4. After processing the first part, measure for compliance with the drawing.

CNC machines are reliable enough equipment to operate without failures for many years. However, the human factor leading to accidents cannot be overlooked. An installer and operator of an insufficiently qualified CNC machine can cause the failure of such machines.
