Work in a morgue always causes unhealthy interest. Someone interested in the "otherworldly" moments associated with the dead.

Someone cannot understand in any way what forces people to spend so much time next to the deceased for a meager salary. What is a morgue job really?

Who works there?

“Morgue” or “mortuary” - colloquial, unprofessional names for the pathomorphological department. It is the pathologist who is the last person to determine the exact cause of death. In order to do it right, you need to have the most versatile knowledge, high professionalism, efficiency and … the ability to communicate with people. After all, it is the pathologist who has to talk with the relatives of the deceased. Unfortunately, the pathomorphological department is financed according to the “residual” principle, therefore the “white” salary of both pathologists and orderlies leaves much to be desired.

There are other specialties in the morgue. Not everyone can work as a nurse in a morgue. Namely the orderlies are engaged in "dirty" work: they carry the bodies, wash them, restore order after opening. The work is not easy and very low paid, therefore it is often hired by those whom other companies do not want to hire: people without education, booze, etc. Of course, this is not the case everywhere. In large cities, only people with medical education are hired, even by orderlies. In many places, getting a nurse's job in a morgue is not easy. The queue is scheduled for many years to come. What is so attractive about working in a morgue? The salary is small, the labor is hard. What's the secret?

How much do they get in the morgue?

The salary in the morgue is really tiny, both among doctors and junior staff. But … relatives of customers pay (often behind the scenes, past the cash register) all additional services. And there are a lot of them: the deceased must be washed, changed, and sometimes tinted so that his appearance does not shock his relatives. All this costs a lot of money. That is why many orderlies are ready to go to work on holidays, to provide a variety of services. Omniscient journalists found that working in a morgue as a nurse gives an income that exceeds even the salary of pathologists and doctors. Work in a morgue is thousands of rubles of illegal income. Another thing is that not every conscience allows you to take money from heartbroken relatives. But this is a topic for a completely different article.

Morgue: mystic

In the morgue, people work who do not believe in either God or otherworldly forces. This is understandable: a person who believes in devilry, resurrection, positive and negative vibrations, could not be with corpses most of his time. Are there mystical cases in the morgue? Probably. It depends on who believes in what. It happened, though infrequently, that the dead, who entered the pathomorphological department, suddenly came to life. Is it mysticism or just an oversight of doctors? Unknown “Reliable” stories by orderlies about how people scream in crematoriums, who, considering them dead, are burned alive. But not a single proven case has been registered, so these stories remain on the conscience of their storytellers. Is it scary to work in a morgue? You know, some are afraid of the dark, even if they are at home. Each person has his own fear. Work in the morgue is not much different from the work of a plumber, car mechanic, cosmetologist, if a person treats her with love or respect.
