Office work is not sugar. Not only is the gray cabinet atmosphere far from home comfort, but also colleagues are constantly noisy and make it difficult to concentrate. But a career is a career, and it needs to be worked on despite distractions. There are a few secrets to help you focus on your work.

Set the rules

An office is a common space, and therefore it should be comfortable for everyone. So, try to negotiate with colleagues for silence. For example, you can establish a rule according to which you can’t chat about work only at lunchtime or during breaks.

And you can set a timer that will fire every 40-45 minutes. After the signal, you can relax and talk for 10 minutes. And then back to work. And so on until the end of the working day.

Make your own noise

If you can’t make your colleagues not to make noise, then you need to create your own “white” noise. To do this, just put on your headphones and turn on background music that will not distract you from the workflow. It can be either slow or rhythmic. But it’s better to choose tracks without text.

Leave the room

Unfortunately, it is not always possible to win the fight for silence. But working in constant noise and din is simply unrealistic. Therefore, if you have such an opportunity, try to leave the office. Perhaps your office has some kind of secluded corner where you can comfortably sit with a laptop. Perhaps your boss does not mind that you work in a cafe, in a park or in some kind of coworking zone. It would be ideal if you could solve some working issues in a comfortable home environment.

Show an example

If you want to work in silence, try inspiring colleagues with your own example. Just do not support any conversations not related to work. Perhaps this will make your roommates think about discipline.
