Have you ever thought about when the profession of mechanic appeared? The answer is known to historians. The prototypes of modern and familiar to us pumps were special installations for pumping water, which were built by the ancient Romans.

The mechanisms were quite complex, so they often broke down, sometimes clogged with sand, debris. In order for the water pumping system to work properly, we needed special people who would monitor its condition. These were the very first mechanics. Today, the work of a mechanic is diverse and multifaceted. These professionals are the bridge between complex (and simple too) technical devices, mechanisms and people. In a variety of industries, mechanics monitor the health of devices, repair and debug mechanisms. It is not difficult to find a mechanic's job: without these craftsmen, the normal functioning of devices, mechanisms, and systems is impossible.

What are the mechanics?

Specialists repairing devices are at any enterprise, in any industry. Some of them specialize in the maintenance of electronic devices, others - in the repair of agricultural machinery. There are aircraft and auto mechanics, specialists in commissioning, mechatronics, ship mechanics and workers serving the trains. Even the andron collider will not work if mechanical scientists do not set it up properly. The work of a mechanic implies that basic education can be obtained at a college or college. To engage in the design of systems or devices, you need to get a higher education and qualification of a mechanical engineer.

But a simple worker and an engineer will have to learn all his life: technology is constantly evolving, new devices appear, new directions, therefore, new knowledge must be constantly acquired. What should a mechanic know? Regardless of their skill level, these professionals should:

  • understand the basic laws of physics;
  • be able to read and make drawings;
  • Know the device devices that you have to work with;
  • understand the technical documentation.

And the salary?

It’s easy to find a mechanic’s job, it’s more difficult to become a good professional. But it is highly qualified specialists who can count on high earnings. How much does a mechanic get? Working on a shift (especially on oil platforms) brings him a very good income. In addition, such a specialist has the opportunity to spend a lot of time at home (when he runs out of shift) or pick up another job.

The work of a mechanic at other enterprises is paid differently.

However, a good connoisseur of mechanisms will always find work. The work of a mechanic involves not only a good education, but also excellent health: the physical activities of these specialists are rather big. All specialists should have good professional hearing, eye, developed spatial imagination. The work of a mechanic is a constant concentration of attention, concentration, quick reaction and observation. High requirements are fully justified: people who can debug any mechanism are always in demand and will never be left without work.
