Today, some unscrupulous companies accept new employees with only one condition. This is an internship in the workplace.

It often happens that a newcomer who has worked for 2-3 weeks is declared an inappropriate employee and leaves without a salary. This is a gross violation of the Law, which gives an exact definition of the concept of “internship in the workplace” and regulates it. Internship is the mastery of the skills of work specified in the job descriptions in practice. Most often, such a practical period is spent by specialists working in production with harmful conditions. However, sometimes it can be assigned to people moving to another position, receiving a promotion, etc. The duration of the internship at the workplace may vary depending on responsibilities, the specifics of production. It usually takes three to ten days. Newly hired employees who do not have experience in this field or profession do not undergo training, but training. Only after it, an employee who has received the necessary theoretical knowledge and skills is sent to practice.

Workplace internship

The process of obtaining skills in the workplace has its positive and negative points. Good, of course, more:

  • Employees have time to familiarize themselves with the terms of reference, evaluate the correctness of their own choices, meet with colleagues, evaluate their own strengths.
  • There is time for adaptation in a new place.
  • The employer also gets time to evaluate the future specialist.
  • The internship time allows the employee to get comfortable with the characteristics of the work team, work schedule, conditions, and other features of a particular workplace. This helps to start full-fledged work without additional stress and nervous tension.

The bad thing is that some leaders, in violation of all laws of the Russian Federation, turn this process into unpaid work hours, after which the intern is dismissed without monetary compensation. Workplace internship is not training, but practice, i.e. activities that are paid without fail. Salary amount is agreed in advance.

Order of passage

Internship at the workplace begins with the fact that management issues an order to start it. In the same document, the person responsible for the practice is appointed. Most often, this is the head of the site or department, another head of the unit. After that, the trainee undergoes initial safety briefings, gets acquainted with official duties, etc. The head keeps a daily journal, which notes the length of working time, the content of the trainee’s work, takes into account all types of completed tasks. When the internship ends, the employee must pass a safety and skills test. Usually, not only professional fulfillment of duties is required from him, but also knowledge of the documentation that he should be guided by when working. If one of these internship rules is violated, the deceived person has the right to go to court.
