Prosecutors are able to represent the prosecution in court and monitor the implementation of the law in almost all areas of human life. The prosecutor of the military prosecutor’s office has similar powers, but acts exclusively in the Russian troops and other power units.
Duties
The prosecutor, whether it be military or civilian, has two important functions - that is, representing the prosecution in court and overseeing the implementation of all laws.
If a person is charged with a criminal offense, the military prosecutor is responsible for providing all the evidence in court that he is guilty. After the completion of the investigation, a conclusion is drawn up in the case in which the prosecution describes the entire structure of the crime, lists the persons involved in it and the evidence of the guilt of the offender. Further, all case materials are transferred to the deputy military prosecutor or to the prosecutor himself, and he carefully studies them.
If, for any reason, the materials on the charge were found unconvincing by the prosecutor, the criminal case will be returned to re-investigation. In the event that the prosecutor accepted the case and sent it to the court for further consideration, he would have to represent the prosecution.
Another main task of this specialist is to oversee the implementation of all laws in the troops of the Russian Federation and other law enforcement agencies. Thus, the military prosecutor of the garrison must accept and consider complaints from soldiers that fall within his jurisdiction, while higher-ranking prosecutors can order inspections and audits in the troops, give direct written or oral instructions to the investigation when considering any offense in order to eliminate the offenses during the investigation.
They also have an obligation to bring offenders to administrative, disciplinary, material or criminal liability.
In addition, the military prosecutor is obliged to carry out work aimed at preventing and reducing crime in all power structures of the Russian Federation.
How to become a prosecutor?
A military or civilian prosecutor is a position, not a profession. In order to take it in the future, you must first study at a university with a degree in jurisprudence and get a job in the prosecutor's office as an assistant military prosecutor. You can also take up this position as an investigator.
It is worth knowing that training in the basics of jurisprudence should be carried out at a military university, as civil diplomas may not be suitable for further employment in the prosecutor's office.
Nowadays, all serious crimes are investigated only by the investigative committee. And if in the past you worked as an investigator and decided to find a job in the military prosecutor's office, then past experience can be useful in a new position.
You should be aware of some of the restrictions that await the future prosecutor. This is especially true for prosecutors in the military, as for the military the requirements for the rules have always been higher. For example, an employee of the military prosecutor’s office does not have the right to join a political party, engage in business, and be elected to any state or municipal structure. He can combine his work as a prosecutor only with educational, scientific or creative activities.
All of the above restrictions can be fully explained, since joining a political party or acquiring a business can impede the impartial work of the prosecutor.
Cash allowance
The position of the prosecutor is rather high paid in comparison with other specialties. This is especially true of the military prosecutor's office, since the salary of employees in it is several tens of percent higher than that of civilian prosecutors.
Their cash allowance ranges from 60 to 80 thousand rubles, depending on the region and law enforcement agencies that are under control. While the maximum salary of a civil prosecutor is 50 thousand rubles.
What skills should a military prosecutor have?
First of all, a citizen who wants to take the described position, as we have already said, is obliged to study at any military university with a degree in jurisprudence. For successful work as a military prosecutor, it is necessary to know all the laws of the Russian Federation well, since the largest part of professional activity will be to monitor their implementation. Also, developed intellect, discipline and good memory will not be superfluous.
Work hazard
The employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and any law enforcement agencies always present a direct threat to life. This is especially true when the prosecutor presents a charge against influential criminals.
In addition, the moral criteria of people in this field of activity are also tested - they often try to bribe them, and if this does happen, they themselves turn into criminals.
