Many new professions have appeared in our country that previously existed only in foreign countries and had absolutely nothing to do with us. Just some five or ten years ago, such professions as a merchandiser or supervisor, with their names alone, aroused sincere bewilderment for a simple layman. Who is a merchandiser? This is a sales employee who monitors the location of goods on shelves in the trading floor, maintains statistics on product balances, and makes orders for the required quantity of goods at a particular outlet.
Most often, such a profession is associated with food or cosmetics, but the specialization of the merchandiser is not limited to this type of product at all. He can deal with any industrial goods, such as clothing, furniture, household chemicals, electronic equipment and much more. Now it becomes clear what a merchandiser is.
If we consider this profession in our Russian reality, we can see that often the employer puts in this concept also the duties of the seller, merchandiser, consultant. In a word, the merchandiser is a universal profession in the Russian trading market.
Regulatory and organizational functions are performed by the job description of the merchandiser, which he must adhere to. So, this document has the following general provisions:
1. Submits to the merchandiser to the supervisor or sales director.
2. Appoint and dismiss the merchandiser by order of the director of the trading company.
3. During the absence of the merchandiser at the workplace (sick leave, vacation), he is replaced by the person appointed by the senior management. This employee performs all duties for him and bears full responsibility.
When applying for this position, candidates are presented with strict qualification requirements that a future employee should have. A future merchandiser is a person with such qualities as sociability, logical thinking, ability to communicate with people in a positive way, diligence and increased discipline.
In addition, the candidate should be purposeful and accurate in work. Such features will help the merchandiser subsequently take a step forward and take the position of supervisor who directly controls the work of the group of merchandisers. Salaries in such a position, of course, are much higher.
Moreover, the merchandiser is an honest person. Without this quality, working in trade will be simply impossible. There are a large number of temptations in the form of a wide variety of goods, which should not confuse the employee and encourage him to commit an offense.
The appearance of a sales employee must be accurate, because the merchandiser is the hallmark of his trading company.
