With the advent of the new millennium, the life of animators has changed for the better. If in the past their only craft was the creation of cartoons, today their range of possibilities has become much wider. This has led to the fact that the profession of animators have become more diverse. And now each artist can find among them their own version of an ideal future.

Profession Multiplier: Description

A cartoonist is a person who creates animation. In some countries, the more familiar name for this profession is the animator. In this case, the second option is considered more accurate, since it originates from the English word animate, which means “revive” or “inspire” in translation.

It will probably be right to say that the profession of animator-animator is a special kind of art. After all, people working in this field create entire worlds filled with lively characters and genuine emotions. Like movie workers, they do hundreds of different operations that ultimately translate into a holistic picture.

What are the professions of animators?

The world of modern animation is an unimaginably complex mechanism that consists of many parts. So, some experts are preparing scenes, others are drawing the image of a hero, still others are working on special effects, and the fourth are working only with computer graphics. Given this, let's talk about which multiplier professions exist today:

  • The key frame multiplier is a specialist whose main task is to draw the most complex and critical scenes. For this, the master must be able to not only have a good command of the brush, but also have rich experience.
  • The animator of three-dimensional graphics is an artist who creates animated objects using various computer programs. Today it is one of the most promising areas in this genre, since 3D animation is very popular.
  • The character multiplier is a narrowly focused branch of this profession, the purpose of which is to master all the subtleties of working out the images of heroes. For comparison, imagine how much the skills of a landscape and portrait artist can differ from each other.
  • The background multiplier is all the same as in the previous paragraph, just the opposite. That is, the main task of the animator is to draw locations, decorations, interiors, and so on.
  • The special effects animator is an artist working with dynamic scenes. At the same time, his skills are used both in creating cartoons and on the sites of high-grade films.

Naturally, these are far from all the professions of animators, since a good half of the day can take them to be listed. But looking at this list, you can easily understand that today there are no universal animators. Indeed, in order to ideally study at least one of the areas, you will have to spend at least five years, and maybe even more.

How to become a multiplier?

So, the multiplier is a profession, the training of which requires a serious approach. That is, you can’t learn only the basics and admire how good you are. The reality is that only those who have professional skills in creating animation projects earn.

Now about where to get them. Today, there are three main ways of learning. We arrange them according to the relevance and quality of the knowledge gained:

  1. Studying in one of the universities or colleges of the country. In this case, everything is very clear: live communication with teachers, quality base, annual practice and a prestigious diploma. In general, all that is necessary for a quick start in this area.
  2. Passing special courses or training programs. Again, a direct dialogue with teachers can be distinguished from the pros, which will quickly deal with difficult material. Among the minuses, the main thing is the lack of a diploma, which at best is replaced by a certificate confirming the completion of the course.
  3. Self-development of skills. Thanks to the World Wide Web, many animators have mastered their craft without leaving home. It is only after this that you will have to work on your reputation for a long time, so that your name begins to attract profitable customers or producers.

The main quality of the animator is …

Many people mistakenly believe that the main thing for the animator is the ability to draw. This is partly true, but much more important for the animator to have phenomenal patience. After all, this is a very painstaking work. So, sometimes a master can take a whole month to create one three-minute video, which becomes a real test for the nervous system.

How to earn a living?

Naturally, at first it will be difficult to find a worthy place in one of the country's animation studios. But the modern world offers these specialists a different reality - freelance. That is, remote work at home, able to fully provide the artist with decent earnings.

Who needs animators? Yes to all, by and large: marketing agencies, social projects, multimedia studios, game channels and so on. But most importantly, they are all ready to pay good money for a well-designed product.
